Campcraft Outdoors Campcraft Axe
The "Campcraft Axe" made by Council Tool is 2.25 lbs. The Dayton axe head is outfitted with a 24 in. curved hickory handle. Popularly referred to as a “boy’s” axe, it's a mid-sized tool, perfect for Bushcraft and Survival uses. The Dayton pattern originated from the Dayton, Ohio, area.
Campcraft Outdoors has finished the handles with a unique char pattern, no two are alike- and we finished it with three coats of boiled linseed oil. They have also waxed the leather, so each axe will arrive ready to use. These are "utility sharp" - ready to use, but with a quick strop of the file or puck, a hair-popping edge is easily attained.
- Forged tool steel head. Made in USA.
- Hand-sharpened, tapered bit for cutting and light splitting.
- ANSI Standards call for a bit hardness of Rc 45-60, at least ½ inch back from the cutting edge. Council Tool internal standards call for tempered bit hardness of Rc 48-55 and we target 1-1/4 inches from the cutting edge. The poll and eye walls are not hardened and remain in the forged condition.
- Head coated with boiled Linseed Oil over the forged finish.
- 24 in. curved American hickory handle. The eye section is dried to below 10% moisture content to minimize shrinkage and help prevent loosening. Hafted high and proud.
- The axe head is hydraulically seated onto the handle and secured with a traditional double wedge system.
- The interior detail of the eye is tapered and allows for a strong mechanical bond. Approximately 1/4 in. of the overall length of the handle is removed during assembly.

Once we receive your item, we will inspect it and notify you that we have received your returned item. We will immediately notify you on the status of your refund after inspecting the item. If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your original method of payment. You will receive the credit within the terms set forth by your credit card/debit card company.
You have 30 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition in which you received it. Your item must be in the original packaging. Your item must have the receipt or proof of purchase .If you make a purchase for the holidays between October 1st and December 25th we will accept returns for those items up until January 31st of the following year provided that the same requirements above are met - the item is unused, has original packaging returned with it, and has a proof of receipt showing the date of purchase. PLEASE NOTE: The purchaser shall be responsible for paying return shipping costs. Initial shipping fees are nonrefundable. If your return qualifies for a refund you will receive the refund for that item(s) minus a 10% restocking fee.
